Window-work

Start:

The new window in the bedroom was (and continues to be...) a different size from the previous one.

So the guys from the Clearydome Upgrade Crew were called in to post drywall (after learning how to cut it), tape (after learning how to tape it...thanks, youtube!), and caulk ("mud" as the guys on the Crew call it...), and then paint (remarkably, I was able to find the can with enough leftover paint to cover the area...) the window surround.

It's hardly art as far as the overall job, but given that it was a first time effort, and that the gaps were a little tricky, we're pretty happy with how it came out. The even better news is that at some point in the future, much of this will be covered by window trim of some sort...

Back Bathroom

After getting upgraded from "not working" to "use-able..." in the shower category, the back bathroom has undergone another new modest improvement.

Previously, the ceiling blocked the improbably-placed skylight, so that was taken care of. It was tricky to get the heavy plate glass down while standing on a ladder in a bathtub, but eventually I got it down. Also, had to shut down the power to sort out taking the lamp out...

Now, of course, there is more to do yet as it has exposed a new gap and opening, but I'll try to sort that out soon...

Thank you, Suzie

Sad news for the clearydome. Aunt Suzie has passed away after a fierce and 18-month long battle with cancer. She came over to visit the dome a couple of days after Christmas. My picture of her came out blurry since she was laughing at the time, so instead here is a photo of her grandson Jonathan enjoying the LoveSac.

Suzie was an amazing woman long before her heroic battle started. Despite being just out of ICU in the last month, she still managed to send out her Christmas cards last year!

Thank you and rest in peace, Suzie.
