Three Years On

Well, (I wasn't actually here for it...kind of apropos, no?) Sunday marked three years on since taking over custodianship of the Clearydome.

And if you are having a hard time playing "spot the difference," I can help you out...yes, I have different glasses on.

Spring Project--Operation Rusty Sell

Project CD 0409-10-R

Would like to find a new home for Rusty, and possibly look to upgrade to a machine that could fully qualify for both work and airport duty...will negotiate!!

Project CD 0409-8P

The new porch paint is already peeling. We've heard from two sides on this one, and need to see what the story is-either this is normal, or I should make contact with the folks at Artisan to see what they say as far as it already being an issue and peeling off.

The second element is that you might not notice anything to sit on there...so the plan is to "earth tone" up the bright white rocking chairs...

Mulch--front per usual, then, too, maybe come up with a good solution for the side of the house, as it's not real vegetative-friendly...

Project CD 0409-7

Need to make the border of the garden/planted area look like its actually a border, and not some vague transition between grass and mulch...

Another good result of moving the fence was that these two trees, which were previously on opposite sides of the fence, are now perfectly placed to be official Hammock Holders.

Thus, project CD0409-H. Hang the hammock up.

Project CD 0409-4

Tear out old sidewalk and install planters for nice walkway back to garage. This funny-oriented walkway is left over from the old layout of the fence, so that's why it jogs to the left. Just want to make it one clear path back...

Project CD 0409-3
Move powerline to garage into the ground, so it's not hanging above the deck.

Look to outsource.

Project CD 0409-2

Add light and drywall the walls. Remove scary-look. Big project.

Familiar sight

Avid clearydome readers might recognize this from previous posts; the old "beer in the rafters" situation that seems to pop up whenever things are peeled back for a closer look, be it a roof being replaced, or in this case, removing the odd ceiling panel that blocked the light from the skylight. That folks felt fit to just leave the beers in there says something I think specific about some of the decisions made in here prior to the current management regime taking over...

Also, a shot of the MVP--both of them, I guess, in the work...the saw...and the saw-operator...

Quick look back at the back bathroom

This one is still a work in progress, but just some shots from the progress made so far...

What, did he get a job or something? We'll call him Stanley.

A recent CDome visitor appeared looking fully job-interview ready.

He claimed that he was actually done with a day of working at a job he already has, but we're a little incredulous here. The part-time Manager of Clearydome Infrastructure and Project Design also had a car that looked a lot like it'd been stolen, although he was hiding behind a story of it being "rented..."

Getting Green

Went to the Annual Members Meeting for Green Broad Ripplelast night at Union Jack.

They have an "Urban Garden" where they grow produce for use in local restaurants, saving the world in a small way by eliminating transportation pollution, etc.

There was also talk that ( I was under this impression...) they were hoping to sell vegetables at the local farmers market (by the high school/saturday mornings), but in talking to one of the people involved, they don't want to compete with the farmers, so just do the restaurant thing.

Also, note-worthy was that a recent initiative was to get the restaurants/bars on the north side of Broad Ripple Ave. to recycle, and apparently so far (in just this past year) over 9 tons of glass has been recycled. Go, Dirty Hippies!

Back to the Urban Garden...they are already starting plants in a greenhouse, and are planning on three different growing cycles this summer...will keep you posted...

Front Room--Picture Rails

Got some 1x4 pine 8 ft, and some molding. Painted it, glued to make the rail, and then attached to the wall.

Not perfect, with the rail attachments hanging below, need to find a way to cover those. But for now, the pictures are on the wall, and not on the floor, so that's good. Just need more new photos...

One more round

Getting better at the shelf-installs. At least faster. Decided to go with black here rather than the "espresso" in the "mud room" (Don't be jealous, Donna...my mud room is also my dining room...).

Black matches the storage unit deal on the other side of the room, as well as the (anticipated...) picture frame rail I'm hoping to do....some time....soon....

Warming up

Well, hopefully the months of fantastically large heating bills are behind now. Things are warming up here soon starting with this weekend. In fact, starting yesterday, it got up to 69 degrees...

But of course it also looks like a stormy Sunday. Hopefully can get some stuff done inside...more to follow of course, but in the meantime have a great weekend!

More Shelves

Also did the other side of the entry-way...

Suzie's Shelves...

I got some plants from Suzie's funeral, and was tasked with keeping them going, by (might I add) an incredulous bunch. But if you note the before shots, you might notice a pair of larger plants (it's odd, maybe, that a guy who has names for everything from his cars to his house doesn't have one for his plants) that have survived my stewardship over five years.

In any case, thought I'd make for a better set up than the original "plants on a trash bag on the floor" plan." So I installed theses "chicago shelves" which kinda match the color of the new table. Here's hoping that they can hold onto the plants and make a good new home for them, and a good place for shoes, etc...

Office Window

Similar deal, for the south side of the upstairs. Now, just need to trim out around these windows...

Window Dressing

Bedroom side window, cleaned up a little bit. The shades are string-free, so you just put them where you want them to go, and they stay there.
